Curling has always been the core activity in Week 5. Maintaining at least some of it without an ice rink was a challenge Gordon rose to by arranging two sessions of ice on the Tuesday at Braehead. Four rinks took part in a reduced Bonspiel, skipped by Loui Costello, Mark Meehan, Paul Meehan, and David McClure. The winning rink (by a narrow margin) was: David McClure, Heather Mowat, Cathy Costello, and Sandi Hawes. David, Sandi, and Cathy with the Fellowship Frame. |

Pairs winners were Heather Mowat and Elma Walker. Most curling clubs book ice before the end of July for the following season. if we wanted to play at Stirling and to be sure of having ice, this is what we would have to do. However, booking ice means having a clear view of how many curlers anre interested and whether there is support for one or two days at the ice rink. Please let us have your thoughts. |
