The match was played amidst the usual scenes of hilarity and confusion, while alongside us three Ayr rinks were engaged in an intercity against Murrayfield.

John McClymont, David McClure, Billy Wells and Hugh Rooney lost 4-7 to Kenny Murray, Bill Hean, Ramsay Lamont and John Place.

Willie Drummond, Alex Fergusson, Jim Smith and Ian Wilkie won 14-7 against John Baird, Jim McCrae, Peter Black and Brian Turnbull.

The clubs tied with a game each; Tarbolton won with 8 ends and 18 shots to Kelton's 7 ends and 14 shots.
